Samuel Hirszenberg (Lodz 1865-1908 Jerusalem) He started his studies at Crafts School in Lodz. In 1881-1883 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Feliks Szynalewski, then in 1883-1887 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in Alexander Wagner’s atelier. He completed his artistic education in Paris at the Académie Colarosi (1889). In 1901 Hirszenberg settled in Lodz, in 1904 moving to Cracow later to Jerusalem, where became the professor at the School of Fine Arts Becalel. He showed his works of art at exhibitions at the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1885, 1888), the Society of the Friends of Fine Arts in Cracow (1886, 1887), also in Munich (1887) and in Lodz at the Z.Bartkiewicz Salon (1894, 1989). He initially painted genre scenes, then landscapes, portraits, decorative compositions and symbolic scenes with Jewish motifs and later postimpressionistic landscapes and portraits of the Jews and Arabs.
