Maurycy Trebacz (Warsaw 1861-1941 Lodz)
Painter and draughtsman. He started his studies at Drawing Class under Wojciech Gerson and A.Kaminski in 1877-1880. He continued education under Wladyslaw Luszczkiewicz and Jan Matejko at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, then under A.Wagner and F.Seitz in Munich and at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. He spent a few years in Munich and left for Warsaw (1894). In 1909 he settled in Lodz where he becoming the owner of the private School of Fine Arts. He showed his works of art at exhibitions at the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the Society of the Friends of Fine Arts in Cracow and Lvov, at the Krywult's Gallery in Warsaw as well as in Munich, Paris and Vienna. He has individual exhibitions in Lodz in 1913, 1919, 1926, and 1937.
He was an author of realistic Jewish scenes, nudes, interiors with figural compositions, and landscapes related to impressionistic style. He was famous portrait-painter.
