A Good Story

Jacob Simon Hendrik Kever (aka Henry Beetle) was born June 19 in 1854 in Amsterdam. Kever painted throughout his life especially interiors with figures, still lifes and flowers, and also a single cityscape. In 1887 he made a few etchings and became a member of "Arti et Amicitiae 'in Amsterdam. Beetle has worked in Amsterdam, Laren, Blaricum, Nunspeet and Maryland. He settled in the Gooi: First in Blaricum, and later, after 1905 in Laren, where he gave advice and guidance of Anton Mauve and joined the Laren School. Henry Kever is considered one of the most important painters of the Laren School especially known for his loose and harmonious color painted interiors with figures, farmers and children. Kever died in the Netherlands - 1922.
